The T-28 Trojan started out as a trainer for the Air Force in the Vietnam War years after the T-6 Texan was phased out. It then became a counterinsurgency (COIN) fighter with the Air Force and South Vietnamese to combat the North Vietnamese, and due to a defector became the main fighter of the North. France adopted it for COIN and general military use, and it proved to be an effective solution as the T-28 Fennec. Trim is the normal trim, but VTOL is used for constant turn, because when the landing gear is retracted, the plane banks slightly to the right.
