The E-1 was fist utilised at the start of the jet age of Wright, in 1956. With a max speed of approx. 1000kph and a cruising speed of 600kph, the spy plane was painted for easy identification at landing. After the E-2 began to take hold in the late 1970s, the E-1 began to be retired, last flying in 1995.
