Let's begin with the history of Land Rover, then we'll go into the details of the Rover itself, and following that will be some SP notes. Controls can be found at the end.

.

In the 1940s, the Rover Car Company was a luxury brand suffering from financial problems. A designer named Maurice Wilks was driving a surplus Willys GP from the recently ended war on Red Wharf Bay, when the idea struck him- to make a cheap, reliable, and utilitarian vehicle. His initial design wasn't far off from a Jeep, but the most notable change was a center steering wheel.

.

The Rover company introduced the "Land Rover" in 1948 at the Amsterdam Car show. Production soon followed, using left over aluminum from Avro and Supermarine plane parts. Even the paint is surplus, all of the Series 1 line used the same colors as the RAF fighters. This was the Series 1, the introduction of the world's most dependable car.

.

The Series 1 was made to appeal for everyone. "The Land Rover can be used by average farmer to work the fields, and then be used the same day to take your wife to the theater." Not only that, but it proved to be a great vehicle for the traveler, most notably in the Oxford & Cambridge "Far Eastern Expedition" (part 1, part 2 )

.

The Series line would continue until the late 70s, when it'd transfer to the Defender line after the experimental Stage 1. The Series 3 was the last of the complete aluminum bodies, lasting more than 20 years.

.

The Land Rover is one of the world's most iconic cars. It's said that 80% of previously uncontacted tribes/nations have claimed that a Rover was the first car they've ever seen, in some cases technology in general. They've been on all continents (minus the poles... I think), and were used by some of the most famous people in modern history. A few notables include Steve Mcqueen, Queen Elizabeth, Jane Goodall,, Kam the Elephant, Winston Churchill, and most iconically, in the movie Stand by Me. It's not often you can find something that both ends of the wealth scale can share with ease. A Land Rover was one of them.

.

About this Rover
This is a 1967 NADA spec Land Rover. 1967-1968 were the years this model of the Series 2a were built. It stands out from the rest with its 2.6l straight 6 petrol engine that produces 123hp, with only 811 made by the Rover Company. Other features include a factory roof rack, cigarette tray, and elephant hide seats. It can seat 10 people (12 uncomfortably), and features a engagable 4wd system and hi-low transfer case. This Rover was sold new in 1967, in Southern Maine.

.

SP Notes
wow ok, if you read that whole thing comment it lol
This project was definitely a unique one. It isn't the first time I've made a Land Rover in SP, but it is the best so far. The only differences between this and a real one are scale, the interior by a smidge (dashboard is nonexistent due to part count and weirdness), and the underside. If you want attention to detail, check out those air vents under the front window.

.

Basic Driving Controls
Trim is throttle
Roll steers
Brake does stuff
Activation Group 7 enables power to all wheels

.

Other controls
1 is main lights
2 activates running lights
3 and 4 are directionals
5 opens doors
6 opens the hood
Landing Gear opens the air vent

.

Credits
EternalDarkness for scaling wheel
Jelloaircraft for tropical roof

.

End
Land Rover turned 70 years old recently. They've come a long way, going back to the where they started before the Land Rover - making luxury cars. Although they ended the Defender line years ago, the company still shows their past. Recently, to mark their 70th anniversary, Land Rover has been sharing the stories that made the vehicle famous. The journey never ends.

@Winstonlharambe Go for it. Be careful if you redo the roof, some of the interior parts are connected to the roof rack. Pedals are connected to the panel between the frame.
