keep in mind this is a 50. cal! we use 14.5mm guns more often though, a weapon that can penetrate 35mm of tank armour at combat ranges, I highly doubt a soldier can carry 3.5cm of armour, or even 2cm

Regardless Awwam has Armour that can withstand Cannon Blasts and much more. Standard Issue Suits can handle such. I don't see why a Regular soldier with a specially modified armour Plate can't handle it. A push back may occur indeed but it will not cause internal damage.
So far this was proved when we charged against Bulgarian Units, Ottoman Soldiers pushed with incredible force overpowering the Bulgarian forced and causing mass panic between them. Trench weapons and machine guns were used to clear them out.

No armour portable by a human being can withstand a 50. cal, and even if it could, the impact would transfer energy through the armour and knock out/internally injure someone, meaning they wouldn't be able to get up
