Kyushu J7W1 shinden (replica)
Here a replica of a pusher propelled, canard configured fighter the Japanese nearly had in production in 1945.
I've made her for ALLSTARSHIPS 1939-1945 CHALLENGE.
her behaviour is slightly odd. noses down with the gear attached, so pitch up hard at 150mph to take off and ditch the gear ASAP. stable at lower altitudes but maneuverable. gets a little funny at higher altitudes, suffers from torque steer and gets a touch unstable. I used the yaw as air brakes, or stabilizers which kill the torque steer.
Historical info. The Kyushu J7W1 Shinden (??, "Magnificent Lightning") fighter was a World War II Japanese propeller-driven aircraft prototype that was built in a canarddesign. The wings were attached to the tail section and stabilizers were on the front. The propeller was also in the rear, in a pusher configuration.Developed by the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) as a short-range, land-basedinterceptor, the J7W was a response to B-29 Superfortress raids on the Japanese home islands. For interception missions, the J7W was to be armed with four forward-firing 30 mm cannons in the nose.
