Hiryu Class SSD
*In active service*
The Liberty Systems Hiryu Class SSD is a diesel electric attack submarine developed for the Midgardian Navy. It is fitted with an AIP (air independant propulsion) system that increases its under water endurance from days to weeks. It is armed with 3x400mm and 2x533mm torpedo tubes, a 3 cell VLS and can also accomodate up to 48 external mines. Due to increased tensions around the world the Midgardian Navy was looking to expand its submarine fleet but simply couldn't afford to procure any more Havana Class boats due to the prohibitive cost. The Hiryu Class was designed as a lower cost but still quite capable alternative. During tests the Midgardian navy was very impressed with its capabilities and decided to procure 16 boats to supplement its 16 Soryu Class SSN's. Throttle to go. VTOL to turn and roll to roll.
