The F-136B Orbital Interceptor, named after the weapon that toppled a giant, is an SSTO designed to intercept incoming Inter-Continental Ballistic Missiles. The Slingshot's engines are a unique hybrid of conventional turbines and rocket motors, allowing extremely high speeds in atmosphere and beyond. The only weapon that can survive the immense atmospheric friction is a nose mounted laser, which detonates the missile's warhead from a distance. At high speeds, the Slingshot uses spoilerons for maneuvering, and the thrust vectoring engines control the craft's pitch. However, at low speeds (at or below mach 1) small wings are able to be deployed from the rear flanks of the hull to aid in maneuvering and landing. A massive airbrake deploys from the rear, negating the need for a parachute, and allowing the Slingshot to be ready for an intercept at a moment's notice.
Controls:
Pitch/Roll/Yaw: Standard Aircraft Controls
VTOL:
* Forward: Trim
* Reverse: Deploy winglets
AG1: Toggle External Lighting
AG2: Toggle Afterburners (only activates at speed)
AG3: Toggle ARC Laser (and cockpit battery meter)
AG8: Toggle Atmospheric Effects (just in case you want to see the plane at speed, and not just a massive fireball)
Features:
Fully Modelled Cockpit: most are new gauges from the (as of the time of uploading this) new 1.11 update
Atmospheric Effects: This craft can easily reach speeds above mach 4, and will create a fireball (and a few other heat related effects) as a result
