Brief Introduction

The Type 054B frigate is the first larger tonnage ship launched by the Chinese Navy for design bidding. It was established and reviewed in 2012, and design began thereafter. The 054B frigate adopts the scheme of China Shipbuilding Heavy Industry Group. Industry insiders have revealed that the maximum displacement of the 054B frigate may reach 6000 tons. This has surpassed the displacement of destroyers and frigates in some European countries. This indicates that the positioning of the Type 054B frigate in Chinese Navy surface vessels has been significantly different from that of the Type 054A frigate. The 054B frigate adopts a diesel fuel hybrid power, which can achieve higher speeds to keep up with the formation speed of the aircraft carrier.
