The Cricket is Fortia's specialized night fighter. It's design is born out of Fortia's inability to produce airborne radars in large numbers. Instead, it carries a crew of four: A pilot who handles the central guns, a gunner who actually remotedly controls the side guns, and two slaves acting as observers in the wing nacelles.

The observers are drawn from the higher-up slaves who have several privileges and also form part of Fortia's bureaucracy among other skilled tasks and, as such, often support Fortia out of a mixture of hesitation to lose their position, as precarious as it is; and fear of retribution being aimed at them and not jus ttheir masters.
