CAM Gladiator
When the CAM Model 2 was first built, few could have imagined what it would have turned into. And this plane probably won’t even be it’s final result.
The CAM Gladiator, or also known as the Tri-Dragster, is a upgrade of the increasingly popular CAM Dragster family. Lovingly know by its pilots as the “Tri-hard”, the Gladiator can reach speeds of 730+ mph, and can maintain speeds of ~700 mph during maneuvers! The plane has the signature robust landing gear, which can take a mighty beating during landings. However, this plane has steerable main landing units, allowing for quick and tight turn-arounds. Also, upon landing, use of the parachutes might be helpful to get that plane to a stop.
Controls:
AG1- in-flight lights
AG2- landing lights
AG3- Parachutes
AG4- steering of the main landing wheels unlocked
Directions:
Upon takeoff, make sure the planes main gear steering devices are locked in place. Once done so, put the plane to ~30% power. Then let the plane “leap” onto its main landing units. Then, crank the plane to 100% power.
Upon landing, come in under 25% power. Once over the runway, make sure your engine is at 0% power. When the main gear touches the ground, deploy the parachutes and hold down the breaks.
I honestly feel like this plane to CAM is how the 737 is to Boeing. The first plane was a hit, and we’ve slowly made it bigger, faster, more modern, and all around better, to suit the many needs. Please be careful with this plane, as you can easily underestimate this planes looping capabilities. So take extreme caution! But. Don’t feel afraid to show off it’s capabilities! Have fun, share, and enjoy as always!
