R.M.S King Edward
Another ship by the Royal Line!
History:
The R.M.S King Edward was a steamship ordered by the Royal Line to compete with the Common Lines, S.S Gene. Ordered in 1907, laid down in 1908, and launched and completed in 1913, it was a mix of luxury and reliability. Drafted in the war in 1915 as H.M.S. Edward, it managed to sink 4 corvettes, a torpedo boat, and a fishing boat by accident. After the war, it became a icon for movies. In the 1930's, the ship was looking old compared to the Queen Mary, and plans to modernize the ship was mothballed. However, while the ship was rusting in drydock, WW2 started. Prince Edward was given to China, to help in WW2. She was renamed "S.S Lóng De Yì Sheng". She was used for transporting troops. However, in 1944, she was hit by gunfire, and sank by the stern, taking 1121 of the 1653 troops with her.
