Based on the reports on the 1st gen Kingfishers, a new fighter was needed to combat modern and future enemy fighters which are more maneuverable. The Saber was originally designed to suite the Air Force but its rugged build and modularity made it an exellent choice for a navy fighter with its speed and maneuverability providing an edge on the battlefield.
