The VerdAir Valkyrie is a twin-engine, tandem seat, sweep wing ground attack and multirole fighter aircraft designed and developed by VerdAir Corporation. It was one of three proposals (all from the same company) selected for the Optimal Fighter Jet Program, a developmental program meant to replace most of the Veridisian Air Force and Navy's obsolete fighters from the 1960s. It first flew on April 18, 1974, and was introduced into military service on October 20, 1978. Due to its ability to sustain heavy damage from anti-air guns, as well as 203 victories in aerial combat (only being shot down twice throughout its service), the Valkyrie remains as one of the most successful modern fighters ever designed, even surmounting the later developed Griffin and Pegasus fighters.

It first sought combat action in 1981 during the Sarafonni Colonial Wars, wherein Valkyries were tasked to bomb key Sarafonnian military installations. Throughout the 1980s, Valkyries were used in numerous military exercises. They made significant use in the 1990s and 2000s, and were deployed in several military conflicts in the Middle East, the Balkans, Africa, South Asia and Southeast Asia, and the disputed territory of the Tiucana Islands.

Because of its outstanding flight characteristics, performance in combat, and the option to select a multitude of weapons, its service life has been extended to 2078. As enhance and more technologically advanced variants of the aircraft are currently in production, it is likely that Valkyries will continue to fly well into the early 22nd century.

Out of all the variants, 8,182 aircraft had been manufactured. Production of the aircraft has been given to VAI Corporation since 1994.
