Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II
The Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II is an American single-seat, single-engine, all-weather stealth multirole fighter aircraft that is intended to perform both air superiority and strike missions. It is considered as a fifth-generation fighter (but has been criticized as a fourth-generation fighter), as it provide electronic warfare and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance capabilities. The aircraft has three main variants : the conventional take-off and landing (CTOL) F-35A, the short take-off and vertical-landing (STOVL) F-35B, and the carrier-based (CV/CATOBAR) F-35C which has a bigger wingspan.
The aircraft was meant to replace most USAF fighter jets. It was primarily meant to replace the F-16 Fighting Falcon. Unlike its costly expensive predecessor; the F-22 Raptor, it is more affordable and available to export to other countries.
The aircraft has been used by several countries.
