For a Vietnam War Roleplay. VTOL UP for airbrakes. The Hawk Fighter Mk 3AU is a Hawk Fighter operated by the Royal Australian Air Force. Like its Pilotmario Air Force counterpart, it is armed with four 30mm Mk 9 cannon in the nose, although carried fewer missiles. Its main boon compared to the Hawk Fighter Mk 3A/B is the use of pressurized fuel tanks, allowing more fuel to be carried in the same space. This extended range greatly compared to the Pilotmario Air Force Hawks. Later PAF fighters would incorporate this improvement. By the time of the Vietnam War, the type was dated as a fighter. Although it scored a few aerial victories against NVAF, PLAAF, and KPAF fighters, it was mostly used as a fighter-bomber. This example is configured as it would be in the field.

@SimpleTechAndResearch The Pummeler began life as a fighter. It was Pilotmario Navy and Marine pilots employing steep dive-bombing tactics which first gave credence to its use as an attack aircraft. This tactic was discontinued when this began to place excess stress on the airframe, and when the A-1B was introduced, shallower dives with bombs and rockets were employed, and continue to do so to this day.
