Supermarine Seapanther (Fictional)

The Supermarine Seapanther started life as a request from the Royal fleet air arm for a high endurance multi-role carrier borne fighter. The existing Seafire had alot of problems. Those issues include deck handling, airframe durability and torque from the propwash. The first prototype being based on a heavily modified proven Hellcat airframe was flown in 1944. The Finished product was flown in 1946, too late to see combat in WWII and entered production in 1947. The Supermarine Seapanther was armed with 4x Hispano MKVs and was described to be a "total beast" to fly by it's pilots. It also happened to have "neck breaking" speed. Despite it's performance and it's improvement by fixing the seafire's design issues such as deck handling, durability and propwash. The Fleet Air Arm only ordered 30 aircraft. The plane's landing gear design made it quite a difficult plane to land. Around 9 airframes were lost claiming 6 lives in the process. The Seapanther eventually had a short career. Entering Service in 1948 and being retired by 1953 with all airframes being scrapped. Despite it's shortcomings, this was a true Superprop and a force to be reckoned with.
