Mirage 2000 with Guided Bombs

This is a demo of Funky Trees Guided Bombs (also called self guided, smart bomb, guided bomb unit or GBU), inspired by design of the existing AGM-62 "Walleye" bombs.

The Dassault Mirage 2000 is used as a carrier and it is equipped with 4 guided bombs.

The homing mechanism is completely made with Funky Trees. No gyro or missiles were used.

HOW TO USE:

Note: Predictor should be enabled

1. Select Air-to-Ground weapons;
2. Select desired target (it will be highlighted with green square);
3. Head your plane to the target;
4. Keep Pitch/Roll angle close to zero;
5. Wait for predictor to be near target (see the Illustration/nuances);
6. Activate the armed group of bomb (AG1-AG4) to drop it; As long as target is selected, bomb will aim to it on it's own.

NUANCES & TRICKS:

• You have to launch the bomb far enough so that it doesn't go into a 90° dive: in that position it is very unstable and becomes unbalanced, which causes a serious deviation

To avoid case from point above: As you increase the drop altitude/speed, you should also increase the drop distance. At medium and high altitudes, you should drop the bomb much earlier than the predictor gets close to the target. Here is example of optimal bomb drop distance for high altitude:

• If you lauch bomb against Ice Base - lasers won't shot it down

• Bomb predictor disappears at 6500m altitude

• Safe distance on which enemy won't lock you is ~7.5km. But if he do, you always have countermeasures.

• If you want to use this plane to pass "Convoy Assault" and "Bridge Demolition" missions, you can use only 3 of 4 bombs, otherwise level will be failed

• There is a 1/20 chance that bomb will not explode when hitting the target.

• If you launch bomb not by activating an AG, but by clicking on "Fire Weapons", it will be launched in "dumb bomb" mode. To activate homing you should press on corresponding AG
