Originally used as a police patrol fighter, the Katla was adopted by the Continuum Defense Force in 3147 and has been heavily modified and upgraded to fit military standards. Designed for anti-surface operations, the Katla is armed with a ballistic chaingun, two energy pulse cannons, two fusion rocketpods and extremely thick armor plating for added defense. Although mostly used by ground forces, it still finds its way into naval carrier hangars, where it serves as a reserve fighter ready to be retrofitted with air superiority packages when the need arises
