PX-1A Wingblade
The PX-1A "Wingblade" was a Top Secret prototype fighter developed by the British during WWII. Designed for close ground support the "Big Wing" fighter-bomber was quickly found to be exceptional in a dogfight. With it's twin engines it could out run, out climb, and out dive any other plane and then rip it to shreds with it's eight guns. The inspiration for this plane came from an idea I had for a comic. I wanted to test to see if the design I came up with on paper might work in real life. Despite it's size this thing is a dream to fly. The controls are quick, responsive, and smooth, with a top speed in level flight around 470mph. For you airplane buffs I pulled design aspects from some of my favorite WWII and modern planes. They include the Supermarine Spitfire, P-38 Lightning, F-4U Corsair, SR-71 Blackbird, and the Beechcraft Starship. *NOTE Don't pull up too hard on take-off to keep the props from hitting the ground. Also the airbrakes are controlled through the VTOL controls.
