This aircraft with serial number 49524 was assembled in Shanghai, China and made its first flight on 01/01/1991. Nine months later it was purchased by China Northern Airlines and flew for the company as B-2140 for about thirteen years. It was transferred to China Southern Airlines from 11/12/2004 and operated in the fleet of this Chinese company until April 2009. With the plane listed for sale, Taban Airlines began its actions to purchase the plane through the Ararat shell company registered in Armenia. First, the plane was purchased by this Armenian company and on 03/04/2010 with the registration EK-82524, it was transferred from Sofia Airport, Bulgaria to Yerevan Airport, and five days later, it arrived at Mashhad Airport on 03/09/2010.
The plane flew for a while with the Armenian register for Taban until it was changed to EP-ARA on June 21, 2010, and then in March 2011, when the ownership of the plane was transferred to Airtour, its register was changed to EP-MDC.
