The Alpenkamm class is a class of Crystalian frigates (or littoral combat ships) built for the Royal Crystalian Navy and Royal Crystalian Coast Guard. They were built under the Projekt der Marine 2065, a project for modernizing the Crystalian Fleet. They served formerly for the Crystal Navy and Crystal Coast Guard, and currently operated by the Royal Sovereign Navy.

Due to it's size and capabilities, the Alpenkamm class exceed the expectations for an LCS but enough capability for a Frigate. The confusion was settled by putting Alpenkamm class in both categories.

Development

With the execution of Projekt der Marine 2065, the designers were tasked to create a more stealth based design for the ships that will be built under the project. Beginning with Portugiesisch Class, laid down in 2072, the project officially begin. 4 years later, the first ship, Alpenkamm, was laid down and launched in 2078. The size and capability of the ship made confusion to the public and the government. To fix the confusion, the ship was labeled both Frigate and Littoral Combat Ship by both the Navy and the Coast Guard. In order to show the indication, a on the portside is written F which stands for Fregatte and KKS on starboard which stands for Küstenkampfschiff. Since the class were intended to fill the slots both inside the Navy and Coast Guard, the Admirals of both branches decided to name their ships according to their likes but limited to Crystal names only.
