F-16 is a single-engine multi-role fighter developed by Lockheed Martin (formerly General Dynamics) of the United States. It is mainly used in air combat and can also be used for close air support. It is the main type of active service in the US Air Force. The aircraft was developed in 1972, the prototype YF-16 first flew in February 1974, and began to be equipped with the US Air Force in 1978. The aircraft is of semi-monocoque structure, cantilevered mid-wing, single vertical tail normal layout, and the air intake is located in the belly of the fuselage. As of December 1994, the aircraft received a total of 3,964 orders, and its production line will continue until 2000. In addition to being equipped with the United States, the aircraft is also exported to Egypt, Belgium, Denmark, Norway, Pakistan, the Netherlands, South Korea, Israel, Singapore, Indonesia and Taiwan, China and other countries and regions.
