Chrysler Defense M1IP Abrams

The increasing effectiveness of Soviet armor necessitated upgrades to the M1 design. However, before the M1A1 came the M1IP Abrams (Improved Performance), a stopgap measure that incorporated some of the M1A1's upgrades. Most notably, the turret was lengthened to accomodate thicker composite armor and turret bustle racks were extended for increased crew storage. The M1IP mainly participated in military excercises in West Germany, including the Canadian Army Trophy (CAT) tank gunnery competition, where it won the Silver Centurion Trophy in 1987, beating West German Leopard 2 crews. It also saw limited use in Operation Desert Shield, but was overshadowed by depleted uranium (DU) armor-equipped Abrams variants.

The M1IP was solely operated by the United States and along with the M1, many have been upgraded to the M1A2 standard. Read More...

Author's Notes
- While the trailer said M900 APFSDS, it has been changed to M833 APFSDS since that is more realistic for an Abrams operating during the 1980's.
- Unrealistic weight because suspension glitches out otherwise.
- Has sort of working suspension.
- Cockpit view also goes into the gunner view.
- The horizontal stabilizer wobbles slightly and this is affected by simulation speed. (Slow-motion decreases wobble, Fast-forward increases wobble.)
- Performance might also affect stabilizer wobble. (Wobbles more while playing in MP.)
- The armor is mostly bulletproof, but not completely (i.e. The sideskirts are not bulletproof.)
- Turret precision mode is good for small aiming adjustments while still using the keyboard to aim.
- Fuel and machine gun ammo is unlimited.

@SnoWFLakE0s Thanks! Quite the praise from the god of FT himself
I figured the wheel floating had to do with the rescaling. I'll try that.

I still can't get over how well this is made. Beautifully simplistic, yet retains all key details and feels very complete. Controls are not to my liking but it's just my brain that's hard-wired to think WASD is for movement.
    .
On a side note, wheel colliders stop floating if you begin by getting the y-axis scale with unscaled wheels first, then stretch them to match your needs.

@Korzalerke 1. The inside mesh is not rendered (You can see through connected glass blocks)
    2. They break like glass

@ReinMcDeer Hey i have a question: You always use glass fuselage for your plane canopies, why? Is there something that makes it different from normal fuselage blocks?

@ReinMcDeer I just wonder what some of those aircraft would look like or how they would fly with your style of building.

@ReinMcDeer now that I've been thinking about it, have you been thinking about dabbling in some of the expiremental aircraft seen in ace combat? (I'd live to see more planes from AC3 and ACX cause they're pretty rare here)

    @UmbrellaCorporation Unfortunately, you can't.
But the smoke scales with the missile, so if you make the missile very small, the trail will be very hard to see.
