THIME-XX8 Skycastle

21.0k LieutenantSOT  3.9 years ago
Auto Credit Based on LieutenantSOT's HELLLLLP! THIME-XX8 Skycastle (Prototype Post)

In 2038, the THIME division came together to create a new plane capable of dropping multiple atomic bombs at once and for flying intercontinentally.
This was the plane they built. It is powered by two nuclear reactors, each connect to one of the nuclear jets (will get to later). This plane also is equipped with a massive sonar in the hull as well as stealth technology (though, no flares or chaff).
There are 8 engine nacelles, each holding a 10,000 HP engine connected to a contra-rotating propeller in push position, making a total of 80,000 HP. Furthermore, there are two Tri-jets that each hold 2 fuel-burning jet engines as well as 1 nuclear jet. These each supply a ton of thrust and this is necessary for short take-offs and long range flight.
This plane can reach and sustain 550 mph at sea level when fully loaded and all jets and props are turned on. Unloaded, it can reach 630 mph. Maximum speed is in a dive and it just barely reaches the Speed of Sound at 710 mph max.
The first engine nacelles on each wing are secondary bodies that hold a 120mm autocannon as well as a ball turret with 2 20mm autocannons on them.
Also yes, this plane was based on the YMF-1 Airacuda and the B-36D Peacemaker and the X-6 Crusader

Weapons:

  • 2 120mm autocannons (Explosive shell; 120 rounds each)
  • 3 20mm dual-barrel ball turrets
  • 46 1,500 pound bombs
  • 2 Hawk's Storm High-Yield bombs

Controls:

AG1= Bottom Fuel-Based Jets
AG2= Top Nuclear Jets
AG3= Open Bomb Bay and the Lights
AG4= Drogue Chute (I recommend using for landing)
VTOL+Trim= Ball turrets

I hope y'all enjoy!!!

Side Notes:

  • Ugh! It is finally done. That bomb bay took an hour to do, and it still could have been done better, but oh well.
  • I'm actually quite proud of this! Big thanks to many people who I will mention in the comments for helping out.

Next Big Project will be mentioned tomorrow

    Honorable Mentions:

    @Cyan thanks for the feedback
    @KnightOfRen thanks for teaching me about custom control surfaces
    @MrEarth thanks for the tutorial on bomb bays
    @Rhunadan thanks for the ball turrets
    @NotSoNormalPioneer & @TrojanAircraftSystems thanks for bringing up the idea of a long range bomber for Moebius. Without that, I would have never created this beauty
    I hope y'all enjoy!

    when you make a plane that weighs as much as an EMD GP40-2 to carry 70,000 pounds of bombs, when a plane that is about half the weight, and uses less engines can do the same

    I think you should have disabled drag on basically the whole plane, that would have made it better.

    Not bad, I think I do two planes an episode, so do you have another one?

    Not trying to seem rude, but it's kinda sad that I spent a lot of time on this and it seems that no one found it or saw it... oh, well

    @NotSoNormalPioneer I know that! I was just saying thank you because I know how tedious it is to go through each post and upvote it, and then wait to upvote again. I just appreciate it

    @TrojanAircraftSystems yup! I think it was because the vertical stabilizer had no wing inside of it. I added one and its stopped
