The HV-288H is part of the Winolian national air defence program aimed at updating the air defence options present to the Winolian Armed forces; it provides a strategic medium, long and anti-ballistic missile component that represents an aspect of the Winolian hybrid defence doctrine. The HV-288H consists of four modules: The launcher module (in charge of the missiles), the radar module (target queuing, tracking, acquisition and dispersion), the fusion module (communication with other systems and battle management), and the auxiliary module (additional powerplant, extra launchers, crane). This is the launcher module.

The launcher consists of 4 missile canisters mounted in an ELS capable of automatically rotating to targets autonomously, though operator input can override it and fire control is down to the fire control chief. Each launcher is independent in the control scheme and hardened against ECM measures. High-density capacitors provide onboard energy for the launchers though all stationary units are provided with a powerplant vehicle to supplement and charge the capacitor units.

The missile, the HiT-100 series HiT-100, is of a new design, consisting or new internal structure and a newer Radome composite providing improved aerodynamic features and better heat resistance to counter directed energy munitions. HiT-100, known as Sharpshooter, is an Advanced Long Range Active Missile, ALRAM, denoting the missiles extreme manoeuvrability in both early-stage flight and terminal stage to kill operation; in most test scenarios the missile was able to correct for both electronic jamming and evasive manoeuvres when within “sure-kill” range. This is because the missile is controlled by both fins and micro-vector nozzles to improve its agility and accuracy.
