After colliding with a merchant ship and going missing, Surcouf managed to surface thanks to the efforts of her crew and was captured by the Nazi navy and converted under the command of the SS as a test bed for their state-of-the-art Lorelei system.
With the defeat of Nazi Germany, she escaped to Japan and sailed as the warship i-507 to prevent a third nuclear attack by American forces.
