SunPiercer Airlines SST - Mach 1.3 & Working Canards

SunPiercer Airlines SST

Discovery & Background:

The year is 1975 and Sir Hobbs SunPiercer, the eclectic billionaire has launched his own airline with an exclusive fleet of SunPiercer SSTs! Designed by SubPiercer Aeronautics and ten years in the marking this SST blends technology and fashion into a true work of art and engineering mastery.

Exacerbated by the poor quality, lack of efficiency and drab styling of the airline industry in general, Sir SunPiercer knew there was a better way. Melding his fashion forward persona and unfathomable wealth. SunPiercer set to task to design and build the worlds most luxurious airline.

Capable of speeds in excess of 1,000 mph, or Mach 1.3, the SunPiercer SST’s classified Hyper-Groove engine produces tremendous velocity with grace and poise.

Passengers will enjoy:

  • Plush custom upholstered leather seating with hand stitched SunPiercer logos.

  • The finest vintage from Sir SunPiercer’s very own vineyards.

  • And not one but TWO state of the art restrooms with ample room to freshen up prior to landing.

But the passengers aren’t the only lucky ones. Cabin crew will delight in two spacious galleys areas making service a breeze. The Pilots and flight engineer will be the envy of the hanger manning the controls of the fastest and most elegant supersonic airliner in the world.

So welcome aboard. Sit back, relax and enjoy the flight. We promise your only frustration will be wishing it took longer.

PLEASE NOTE!

When the landing gear comes down it automatically extends the canards (front horizontal stabilizers). These are intentionally designed with a 10 degree pivot angle providing lift and stability for landing. Be prepared for the nose to rise when deployed.

Landing

She is a fast plane so give yourself enough time to set up the landing. I try to touchdown at 25% throttle and just at or under 300 mph. Keep throttle at 35% until just before the runway. I find I can maintain a good glide path with power between 35% and 40% and 350 - 400 mph.

You cannot climb with power below 40%.

You will drop like a rock with power below 25%

This is my first plane using XML. I figure some of it out about halfway through the build. I know this could be better but the part count was getting out of hand so I needed to move on. I still had a great time building it!

Thank you and if you enjoy please UpVote!

@jselbach yes! That’s usually when I get my best work done. Flying from LA to London was a good one lol

@Mustang51 i can support that statement. Nothing better than being on a long (actual) flight with nothing to do but work on simpleplanes for hours.

@jselbach I actually prefer building on my phone. The only reason I’d want it for PC is to use mods for better thumbnail photos but sadly I have a Mac lol

@Mustang51 Yes, my mobile version is littered with half-built projects. I only recently upgraded to PC. Makes a world of difference.

@jselbach yeah sometimes I start half a build and then a few months later I finish the other half. Sometimes a break in between is good but I also have many half finished builds now which I need to finish

@Mustang51 Yes, I'm thinking that might be one of those builds you do a bit at a time.

@Mustang51 If you google "Airliner No. 4 - Norman Bel Geddes" you will see one I've had my eye on for a bit. I worry a lot of the detail would be lost to the inside through.

@Mustang51 Thank you. I may reach out on the next build, whatever that may be. I have a few ideas in mind but know that I have a light understanding of XML I want to give it some good thought and try something big in terms of personality.

@jselbach if you need some help making the exterior look more detailed and interesting feel free to ask!

@Mustang51 Agreed. I tried to change the primary picture by adjusting the code but I think that has to happen when you take the screenshot. Oh well. I greatly appreciate the assistance!

I think it’s mostly because the exterior isn’t very eye catching at first. The colours are okay but they don’t stand out. Also there isn’t much detail on the outside. I think that’s why it sadly doesn’t have the attention it deserves. I posted a link to it on some servers so let’s see if that does it any good :)

@Mustang51 Well, with only 9 downloads I could certainly use some magic dust on this build, if even just for the feedback to incorporate into future builds.

@Gbhole Haha! Ya, my creations never seem to get much traction. My Italian seaplane did pretty well though. Oh well, the game is amazing so I'm just going to keep building. Thank you!
