Description
The Tarakan MGS-2A1 (Meriam Gerak Sendiri-2A1) was first designed in 2005 by BlackGearCompany. This MGS has the capability to be directed as a Mobile Gun System or simply as a Self-Propelled Gun (Meriam Gerak Sendiri).
The vehicle is built on the chassis of the APB-12 vehicle and serves as a supporting fire, aiding infantry forces on the battlefield or more specifically, as a Fire Support Vehicle (FSV).
The Tarakan MGS 2A1 is operated by a crew of four, including the Commander, Gunner, Driver, and Reloader. Its main weapon is a high-pressure 105mm cannon, with a bullet velocity exceeding of 900m/s. The vehicle has 50 rounds, consisting of 30 Armor-Piercing Discarding Sabot (APDS) rounds and 20 Multi-Purpose Anti-Tank (MPAT) rounds. Additionally, the vehicle is also equipped with 105mm caliber Anti-Tank Guided Missiles (ATGM) launched through the barrel.
Despite having the same speed and maneuverability as its predecessor, the APB-12, the Tarakan MGS 2A1 has a shorter range, only reaching 600km, compared tp its predecessor, APB-12. This indicates the vehicle's focus on effective fire support in more confined battlefield environments.

Lore
The name of Tarakan that used in this armored vehicle is to honor one of the engineers from Tarakan who also worked as the head engineer at BlackGearCompany.
The development of this armored vehicle started with the research of the APB-12 development in 1989, with the idea of making APB-12 a modular platform that could be fitted, modified, added to, and so forth to fulfill several special missions. Several plans failed and even postponed until 2004, but then a new engineer from Tarakan came. He proposed several proposals and finally in 2005, the models from the proposals were approved by the company's top brass, and among the models, there were 3 that were approved, namely; (Pr-AFV-12AX4A) R-2S2A1 APC 2 (MGS2) Patch 1, (Pr-AFV-12AX4A) R-2S2A1 APC 2 (MGS2A2) Patch 2, and (Pr-AFV-12AX4A) R-2S2A1 APC 2 (MGS2A3) Patch 3.
From those models, each model was made into a prototype which would later be shown to the RI and they finally approved it and funded the company to make several units.
At the time when Indo Defence Expo exhibition was held, there were several countries interested until finally, they contacted BGC as a business discussion.

Timelines:
2010 – There were allegations of black market trading by a third party.
2014 – It was seen burning during the invasion or annexation of Russia Crimea.
2015 – Kazakhstan was once interested but withdrew its intentions because Moscow's offer was more enticing.
2018 – It was seen that the Taliban used this vehicle. Because this is a sensitive issue, the top brass of BGC was called to the UN council.
2019 – America in Afghanistan seized the vehicle from the Taliban and found that the writings on the instructions and others were in Ukrainian. There is a possibility that Ukraine sold it to the black market.
2020 – During the Syrian civil war, there were witnesses who said this vehicle was seen there.
2021 – The statement is true that the vehicle was there.
Comment by the frontline:
"The vehicle has thin armor, and it is very easy to penetrate only by automatic cannons. Making it often 'cooked off'. Its weight also often makes it stuck in the mud. Even so, its weapons are still relied upon to provide effective long-range attacks, especially its MPAT ammunition." – Lt. Sergey Nowak.
"I like it because of its design, and how the cannon can penetrate old tanks owned by Bassar." – Syrian Rebel who uses the MGS.
"This is a dick." – Yonkav 14 Technician.
"I have to admit that this armored vehicle has its own advantages, especially in terms of firepower. Especially from their own-made MPAT ammunition. Despite its advantages, this vehicle still has some shortcomings, especially its muzzle velocity which is lacking." – Lt. Ahmad Abdul Qasim.
Maybe there is still a minor problem and lack of something that might be important.
still improving my skill
Enjoy!!!
