Tiran-Altica | A-17H Osprey | Multirole fighter

15.4k Dastin  5.2 years ago

Before you begin:

If you’re not interested in lore, controls are nearer to the bottom.

The performance isn’t highly realistic, owing to my use of scaled down wings. If you’d like one with a more realistic performance and wing loading, I intent to link an unlisted version.

Custom weapons will also be available VIA my custom weapons pack. When I upload that is… eh, who knows.

This up[oad is also a bit of an interim upload as my next upload is my gold celebration and a big thanks. It's a, erm, big build, to say the least.

Without further ado, please enjoy one of my personal favourites.

“So I’m a small guy with a small temper flying a small jet? So what? My height, my temper and my jet kick ass any day of the week. Don’t believe me? Get in the cockpit and I’ll show you.”

The A-17 (Old designation system: Ta-17; Revised JSD system: Undefined) Osprey is a single engine, light-medium supersonic fighter initially designed by the Altica Harvey corporation and further developed and produced by the Tiran-Altica group. The aircraft was designed as part of the Project: Clear skies initiative to produce a modern light fighter to replace a number of older, foreign models and provide incentive for the fledgling Winolian aerospace industry. Several designs were submitted but the merger of Tiran Aircraft Manufacturing and the Altica Harvey Corporation secured the A-17’s place.

The A-17 is a single engine, highly maneuverable, multirole fighter. It is the smallest fighter in active Winolian service and is designed from the ground up as a multirole platform with enhanced strike capabilities. Due to its cheapness to operate and simplicity to maintain it became a fast favourite of frontline response units and smaller foreign countries, securing many exports particularly to African and South-East Asian nations.

The Osprey is built to inherently be unstable, following the trend of relaxed stability. Its single engine design makes it inherently cheaper for most countries to maintain. Although small, the Osprey is a heavyweight in carrying capacity, thanks to its increased wingspan and improved lift; at the cost of increased drag at supersonic speeds. However, it has been praised for its low speed aerodynamic performance and agility. The most modern A-17 makes use of quadruplex FBW control systems to further enhance performance.

The Osprey has been armed with an extensive myriad of weaponry since its induction; everything from Soviet era R-77’s to the modern, highly acclaimed HIT-44C Blackout missiles. Because of this, Ospreys are often referred to as “Missile mules” because of the variety of weapon systems they’ve been photographed with over their service life.

The Osprey was revolutionary in its avionics, being the first Winolian design to make use of a fully digital cockpit. The cockpit was designed to be extremely ergonomic and a wealth of pilot influence and opinion went into its design. Many F-16 pilots opted for its internal design, although priority was given to ensuring the simplicity was met with practicality. This layout maintained relevance even as redesigns changed the layout of the cockpit.

@Armyguy1534 Unintentionally so. It has significant differences from the F-16

Hey cool, looks like a combination of Rafale with an F-16, flies well too. If you had flaps and slats set to vtol it would be amazing. Did you make the weapons too?
