A-312 Bumblebee
The A-312 “Bumblebee” was designed as a heavy-fighter. Its speed and maneuverability however, are comparable to the likes of smaller, single-engined fighters. It was popular among pilots, and because of its extreme success as a ground-support aircraft, the air-force wanted to use it as a fighter-interceptor.
To meet the demands, the Bumblebee was refitted with a new experimental hybrid engine, a 14-cylinder radial with exhaust turbines, driven by a variable-gearbox system, utilizing primitive turboprop technology.
The new engine provided the Bumblebee with better performance at higher altitudes, and it excelled as an interceptor, taking down many enemy bombers and earning the catchphrase, “Stings like a bee”
The A-312 Bumblebee is a fictional fighter I designed because I love the idea of forward-swept wings
