Vultee XP-70
I've worked on this and procrastinated for so long, but I decided to get it done. I don't really like how it flies (not that it flies much at all XD. Still trying to get these custom surfaces under control, just started doing them). I'm going to try and make a quality build next.
In 1944, the USA (and many other countries) began experimenting with something called "mixed propulsion." The largest use was like this, propjets. Rocket-JATO was another group too.
This fictional plane was meant to be an aerial superiority and dive bomber. It has two 1000 pound bombs and two 1500 pound torpedoes in an internal bay. Also equipped with a tail gunner, 4 20mm autocannons, and an arresting hook for carrier landings. Also has mixed-rotary elevators on the rear. It has the standard elevator and then a rotary tip
Weapons:
- 4 20mm autocannons
- 1 12.5mm machine gun
- 8 Rockets
- 2 1,000 Ib Bombs
- 2 1,500 Ib Torpedoes
Controls:
- AG1 = Bomb Bay Open
- AG2 = Drop all Bombs (0.2 second delay)
- AG3 = Fold Wings
- AG4 = Takes off safety on Autocannons
- AG5 = Takes off safety on rear machine gun (rotates with VTOL)
- AG6 = Arresting Hook
- AG8 = Turbojet
I hope y'all enjoy!
I will make a good-quality build next. I promise you. I'm on Spring Break now, and I am caught up with school. I will go back to posting regularly for a little bit
(With good quality, of course) :)

#Good job matey! 😸
Now I can fly!
Yup! @LieutenantSOT
@MIAW26PERSIAN thanks!
@LieutenantSOT that's how I figured out to get the most lift out of my aircraft as I can, flat bottom is definitely good for multiple things.
Thanks! @TrojanAircraftSystems
np @LieutenantSOT
Thanks! @russianspy
@Cyieed462 thanks!
@PapaKernels thank you so much for feedback!
Yeah, it is REALLY big. Way larger than I wanted it to be. I started this like 3 weeks ago and just got it done.
I thought flat bottom was for gliders? Huh. Thanks for that! And yeah, my issue was that the wings are like 6 times bigger than they look and weight accordingly. It's crazy. And my panelling sucks, but I hope to make it better on the XP-81. I will practice on it, and thank you for that! I should have worked on the CoL and CoM. That was my laziness, sorry.
The drag points... oh, boy. Yeah, I need to work on that too
congrats on gold
heyy
Ok one major thing is I think you should have made the primary wings larger by making it flat bottom so it has more lift, and having more hidden inside the wings. Drag would have made it alot easier to control, and faster. The com and the col are so far back, that's also adding to it. It's also MASSIVE, things really big. The paneling is meh, it could be better, I would suggest looking how I did my paneling to make it look better.
@LieutenantSOT one thing I think you should improve on is using xml to knock that drag scale down, I was outside so I'll test it out so you get the best feedback. If you would like I could test out your aircraft before you test them.
@PapaKernels thanks!
Not bad, looks pretty nice!
