AF-16

1930’s transitional fighter.

Fictional Story:

During the early 1930's, the Jacomian air force needed a fighter to replace their aging B-232s and GE-22s that were in service at the time. The task was giving to the Sarnnox Craft Company to design a new modern mono-plane type that would compete against other nation’s fighters. After about a year of development, the new AF-16/EP-34 protoype made it’s made in flight in september of 1934. The military was impressed by it’s fast speed, minuerverability and rate of climb and placed an order of 150 AF-16s. The AF-16 first entered service in 1935 and mainly saw service as a fighter, however when the AF-16 became obsolete, It was still used by the Jacomian air force for ground attack duties with it's ability to carry up to 500 pounds of bombs and an advanced trainer until the later years of wwII. Engines for the AF-16 ranged from 400 to 650 horse power. Many nations such as the USSR, China, Poland, and France purchased examples of the AF-16. In total, over 5,850 AF-16s were built between 1935 and 1942.
