Sentinel Air Defense System
Pitch and Roll lay weapons. VTOL controls direction, Yaw steers.
The Sentinel Air Defense System, formally the AN/TWQ-2 Sentinel is a Paternian mobile short-range air defense system designed by KRIEG. The system is self-contained within the turret can be employed on any vehicle which has a standard L/M Weapon Mount. Armed with eight Stinger missiles and an M3P 12.7mm machine gun, it can knock down cruise missiles, low-flying fixed-wing aircraft, helicopters, drones, and up to 8,000 meters.
It employs an AN/VPY-81 phased array Doppler radar to track targets within a 120 degree arc in the direction it is facing, and a multi-spectrum AN/VSS-90 sensor which can targets optically on infrared light, passive radio, visible light, and ultraviolet light.
It is employed in batteries of four, each covering a particular quadrant so that the objective is provided 360 degree protection. Thus, the limited scan area of the search radar is irrelevant in Paternian doctrine. This particular system is mounted on an M1115 Commando.
