The P.1076 was designed to meet the requirments for a high altitude fighter. Heinkel based the design off of the He 100, and incorporated the surface evaporation cooling for the engine. The engine was to be a powerful DB 603 hanging v12 engine. This coupled with contra rotating propellers and a sleek design would have made the P.1076 one of he fastest piston powered fighters ever. This project never got off the drawing board
