project 52 bomber-fighter
Project 52 is a unhistorical soviet jet engine powered fighter bomber.
Armament: 4 35mm guns, 4 7.62mm machine guns mounted in top turret and in the tail, 4 air-to-air k-5 missiles.
Turrets are mouse/screen controled.
AG1: eject pilot. (to eject engines must be turned off)
Landing: Speed 350-430 at attack angle of up to 10°
during landing hit AG7 to open parachute
AG6 + Trim to turn front wheel
AG5: drop bombs
VTOL opens bomb bay doors
AG2: turn on top turret
AG3: turn on tail guns
In terms of landing and take off its a disaster.
"What if" history of the aircraft.
Work on the design started in 1952. It was suposed to do at least 1 mach and be capable of engaging both ground and aerial targets effectively. First prototyp was comoleted in 1955. Engineers quickly encountered one very big problem. During passing sound barrier both gunner had to be facing forward of the aircraft to not get injured. In case of the turret gunner it wasn't a problem as he could just rotate his turret, but tail gunner had a stationary seat facing back. Engineers simply made his seat rotatable. At this point plane was ready to be produced but a new requirement was given, plane was to be able to carry air-to-air missiles that were currently under development. Project 52 engineers were in contact with engeeners working on k-5 missiles which led to 2nd protopype of project 52 beeing ready almost at the same time as first k-5 missiles. During tests plane performed excelent with slight issues during landing. Plane was renamed to MR-32 (whitch stands for Mikhail Roguskov and 32 which is weight of aircraft )
Only 41 were completed due to the tragic accident in factory in whitch they were produced during which factory collapsed after gas tanks explded destroying building foundations. There was no point to resume production as a new plane was ready, mig 21.
