Sunair Embraer EMB-110 (The airline that lasted 1 day)
An Embrear EMB-110 in the Sunair livery, aircraft is not mine, original made by Walrus001. Sunair was an airline originating in Florida that operated exactly 1 flight on March 17, 1981. The airline was originally meant to go into service with brand new Swearingen Metroliners, but due to the founder, Wayne Lackey, hiring over 400 employees in preparation of the new aircraft, the airline had already accumulated over 1 million in debt, before the first flight even flew. Because of this poor spending by Lackey, the airline was only able to operate a single Embraer EMB-110, and before the flight, Lackey apparently gave the pilot a wad of cash and told him to "Fly until the money ran out", which ran out after just 1 flight. Sunair had originally planned to fly to 15 cities in Florida, including Ft. Lauderdale, Miame, and Tampa. The first flight had been planeed for January 15, 1981, but due to multiple setbacks, had it's first and only flight 2 months later on March 17, 1981
