Nurtanio Tipe 110 Attack Aircraft

The Nurtanio Tipe 110 attack aircraft (NATO Reporting Name: Firecracker) was an Indonesian twin-engined, attack aircraft designed and built by Perusahaan Manufaktur Pesawat Udara Nurtanio. The aircraft's engine was powered by two contra-propeller engines, each placed on both sides of the wing. Due to it's 'melody'-like blue note while flying, or dive attacking enemies, it was officially nicknamed as Melodi (lit. "Melody").


Design and development
In the beginning of late 1973, the Indonesian youths needs a new, twin-engined contra-propeller attack aircraft. However, the Indonesian youths in the aviation responded to this by designing a new aircraft.

The design was submitted and was later approved, and soon, the design began to be constructed. It took 4 months to complete the first prototype. However, after the first prototype was finished, it was rolled out at June 12, 1975. Test flights began with no problems, and it was quickly - a success that resulted in a test completion.

Indonesian Air Force quickly recieved 13 aircrafts and were entered service.


Operational History
The first unit, joined the Indonesian Air Force and entered service, and the others were received from 1975, towards 1982. The last unit was recieved in 1982, entering the service with the Indonesian Air Force.

The aircraft remained in service with the Indonesian Air Force as of today, all units were operational.
