Main description

The LMBH-Wojownik (or warrior in english) is a Polish conversion variant of surplus M18 Hellcats that did not enter service in Europe and are in storage, it was made before the LRCT-Panthera variant, and it's main armament is a 155mm HA-BB cannon, having a short range yet very destructive blast radius.

History

The commission to modify M18 Hellcats to artillery and recon tank variants were underway in order to extend their lifespan, Polish Industries, the same manufacturer for the LRCT-Panthera, made a artillery conversion variant 10 years previously before the recon tank design was established. Polish Industries setup the final design for review, and was accepted for army, designating it "LMBH", or "Light Mobile Howitzer", it was designed to destroy buildings, pin down enemy infantry, or bombard trench positions. The performance was mixed at first, even though it had high mobility similar to its American counterpart, the cannon had issues, for example, it was heavy and would stress out the transmission, reducing reliability, this was a huge problem, so the tank was not fitted with a lot of turret and hull armor to compensate for the weight of the cannon, including the shells.

After the major issues were fixed, the LMBH-Wojownik entered service on patrols for short-range artillery support, the tank would be in service up until the 80s, where such a vehicle would be considered obsolete by dedicated mobile howitzer vehicles. No export versions were made.
