at-17 bamboo bomber 1.0
this aircraft went by many names at-8, at-17, uc-78, t50 etc. it was a product of cessna but is perhaps best known as one of the aircraft from the skyking television show. however it's most important role was as a multi engine trainer during World War II. the general procedure was to go through preflight, primary, basic and advanced flight schools in the US Army Air Forces. the aircraft used in each phase carried designator such as pt for primary ... bt for basic etc. So the AT-17 was an advanced multi engine trainer. pilots split for the advanced phase. bomber and transport pilots tended to end up flying the AT-17 while fighter pilots ended up in the more well known AT-6. As a trainer it is very stable and not very fast compared to fighter aircraft of the day. but, these characteristics made it popular as a executive transport after the war. the nickname bamboo bomber was a pilots attempt at humor because many did go on to bombers and a large part of the aircraft was wood. historically this meant the aircraft was prone to rot and midair breakups if not properly maintained. being a tail dragger, pilots were often warned not to rife the brakes lest it tip over. however these quirks are not modeled by the engine. it does not have flaps as yet because they have apparently not been added to the android app. this is my first model. certain sacrifices had to be made to maintain flight characteristics such as increasing engine hp due to the fact that I could not specify light materials (wood) etc. enjoy.
