Boeing Microfighter

1,362 ShrimpRex  5.9 years ago

As per tradition, I will not write an extensive description of this aircraft, just know that it was a concept by Boeing Aircraft in the late 70's for a microfighter they could cram into the body of a 747 as an airborne carrier. Look it up, it's was just as awesome as it sounds.
As usual, please give me an upvote if you download and enjoy it, it really means a lot to me.

Have fun flying!

@AnOlympicWalnut You know, i think it is a good thing to try. In SP of course. A 747 with microfighters loaded instead of bombs or passengers.

@atgxtg Nice, the landing gear was just for testing purposes, but I hid it away in the fuselage so it wasn't visible in flight so I just left it. You can call it creative freedom xD

@ShrimpRex Sure, I'll note it as a successor so you can get some points. I've adjusted the engine, reduced the wingspan, reduced the wing area wing area, added leading edge slats, and got rid of the landing gear. I just got see if I can get it to take off with 10000 pounds!

Now with drones, this flying aircraft carrier concept is even more feasible (DARPA is doing it with Gremlin drones and a C-130 as the carrier).

Flies very nicely! And lands much smoother than my version. Keep up the good work!

Handles well. Do you mind if I fine tune this to try and match up with the "offical" specs.

Based on the wing area and weight, I'm wondering if the 985 could actually fly.

By the way, you should all watch Mustard's mini documentary on the 747 aircraft carrier on youtube!
