The McDonnell Douglas F/A-18A Hornet is a carrier-capable multirole fighter aircraft designed for both air-to-air combat and air-to-ground attack. It was developed for the United States Navy and Marine Corps in the late 1970s and entered service in 1983.

2. Engines & Performance: It is powered by two Pratt & Whitney F404 turbofan engines, which enable speeds of up to Mach 1.8 (about 1,190 mph) and a service ceiling of approximately 50,000 feet.

3. Weapons & Payload: The F/A-18A is equipped to carry a variety of weapons, including AIM-7 Sparrow missiles, AIM-9 Sidewinder missiles, bombs, and other munitions. It has multiple hardpoints for carrying external fuel tanks and bombs, making it effective for both combat and long-range missions.
