History: The Citroën AMX-49V was designed in 1952 to serve as an export tank, with Canada being the biggest customer. Only three were ever delivered to the Canadians before the project was canceled in late 1958. The three tanks were originally in a battalion on their own, as the Canadians were expecting more tanks to fill the gaps. However, the others never arrived, and in 1960 two of the tanks were scrapped and their crews were transferred to other battalions. The third tank was kept along with its crew and it served in its own battalion until 1975 when it was pulled from service and stored in various museums and warehouses. It was eventually scrapped in February of 2013 after its last drive by the original crew.
