The Grumman F4F Wildcat is an American mid winged carrier-based monoplane fighter that fought the Imperial Japanese fighters in the Second World War. The F4F Wildcat was originally planned to be a Bi-plane but competitors were proposing monoplane designs which forced Grumman to also create a monoplane design.
