Hughes H-1 Racer
109k WalrusAircraft
7.6 years ago
The Hughes H-1 is a racing aircraft built by Hughes Aircraft in 1935. It set a world airspeed record and a transcontinental speed record across the United States. I decided to build a custom engine cowl using... a special part. It seems to work well. See if you can guess what it is without tearing apart the build.
Instructions: VTOL for flaps & landing gear for gear. Built by Walrus Sr. and tested by Walrus Jr.

Have you built the Spruce Goose yet?
Everything down to the speed is accurate! Amazing!
I was just getting ready to start this build, it’s an aircraft most don’t know about. I’m so happy to see someone has built this already! Nice job!
I love it
yaaaaaah!!!
@temporaryaccount - Yes. Sorry for the delay in my response.
Your welcome btw I have a build request if you can make a CRJ-100 @WalrusAircraft
Thanks, I appreciate that! @ams2005
I like how you make any plane a small part count but very detailed good job no wait GREAT JOB keep it up-ams2005 @WalrusAircraft
@WalrusAircraft ITS DA TIRE FROM 1.4 CAR UPDATE
Send me the link to look at it. @Thepilot172
Thanks Cedy. 🙂@Cedy117
Sick stuff! Must of missed this one some how
@SpiritusRaptor - So nice to hear from you Spiritus. I hope you are doing well these days.
Very very nice...
I appreciate that. Yes there are features that are really time consuming, and the plane needs to fly well, too. Another challenge is trying to keep the part count down so mobile can still have fun. Thanks for being a follower! @CaesiciusPlanes
That's not a bad idea. I've been trying to rework my Maz, adding a Russian gun Jr. Is making. A wreaked would be fun. @Dalton02
Built on the kenworth
A 50 ton rotator wrecker
@WalrusAircraft can you build a request please?
@WalrusAircraft No problem! :D
@Sparrow007 - Thanks Sparrow!
@TheLatentImage - Thanks Latent. You should ping me some time to catch up.
It's amazing!
I like the smooth engine hood and those great landing gears!
This is really cool. Those black pieces underneath that simulate negative space for the landing gear is a nice detail. I enjoy the mechanics of the landing gear themselves too. Excellent build.
