Hughes H-1 Racer

109k WalrusAircraft  7.6 years ago

The Hughes H-1 is a racing aircraft built by Hughes Aircraft in 1935. It set a world airspeed record and a transcontinental speed record across the United States. I decided to build a custom engine cowl using... a special part. It seems to work well. See if you can guess what it is without tearing apart the build.

I was just getting ready to start this build, it’s an aircraft most don’t know about. I’m so happy to see someone has built this already! Nice job!

I appreciate that. Yes there are features that are really time consuming, and the plane needs to fly well, too. Another challenge is trying to keep the part count down so mobile can still have fun. Thanks for being a follower! @CaesiciusPlanes

That's not a bad idea. I've been trying to rework my Maz, adding a Russian gun Jr. Is making. A wreaked would be fun. @Dalton02

    It's amazing!
I like the smooth engine hood and those great landing gears!

This is really cool. Those black pieces underneath that simulate negative space for the landing gear is a nice detail. I enjoy the mechanics of the landing gear themselves too. Excellent build.
