Based on but not a replica of a design from luft46.com.

The Schroff S.270 Jeinschulz was a twin engined bomber mainly used for night attacks and raids. Many pilots were fond of the aircraft, and Lt. Alvinz Hemerl was one of them.

Lt. Hemerl was a veteran from Austria who fought in South America in the late 1920s to aid Argentina and Brazil.

When Hemerl received the Jeinschulz as a gift in 1940, he disliked the plain, green color and wished to have it repainted d in red. His request was accepted, and when he got it back, he nicknamed the new and more prominent plane "Maroon Fury".

During the time of war, Hemerl conducted more than twenty sucsessful raids in 1941/42 alone, and another thirteen in '43. However, Hemerl's largest success was during the 237th Air Squadron Raid of Syria from July 7th - July 9th 1944, when he successfully captured Damascus and freed hostages from Beruit. Syrian troops then retreated from the war campaign, and a huge success was made for Hemerl.

Lt. Hemerl was very proud of his feat and so was his country.

When the war ended in 1946, he retired from the military and brought his pride and glory, Maroon Fury, home.
The plane now resides in a national aircraft musuem.
