The Po-2 (U-2) was an all wooden biplane that served many roles such as a trainer, light bomber, psychological warfare, ariel recon, and liaison aircraft. The Po-2 came into service in 1928 and service did not end until 1959 making it the longest lasting plane in the Soviet Air Force and making it the most poduced biplane in the tens of thousands. The Po-2 stayed in service for such a long time due to it being simplistic and cheap to make. German fighters in WWII had trouble shooting it down due to its low speed. The famous Night Witches were a female group who flew Po-2s in the night bombing strategic places giving them their nickname. The Po-2 was well out dated but it proves that technology isn't everything and that you only need what you need.

@RangoPilot my God this post is old. And there's usually a night witches Po-2 event around Halloween. There's also Po-2M for sale on the Gaijin Marketplace for sale where you can buy one. I have a Po-2 from the 2015 event and honestly it's not worth it for a plane to actively fly it's just a rare vehicle you can claim you have but the plane itself is honestly worthless lmao

I fly it every day in war thunder with his mighty mustang custom skin, it has the speed of an sr-71 combined with the manouvrability of an mb339
