Noting the efficiency gained in a tandem rotor configuration by negating the tail rotor, while also trying to address the miriad broken landing gear on CH-47s used in air assaults, the fine folks at Boeing decided to develop a smaller tandem rotor helicopter with enhanced landing gear. The Mini Assault Hook can carry 16 combat laden troops in the highest and hottest conditions. It can also take a beating and is well suited for quick and dirty landings with four massive force attenuating struts.
