Desing History

The Adamant-Class is one of two families of Battleships developed for the Estar Navy.The Adamant-Class, along with the Sovereignty-Class, are combat platforms that form the basis of the Estar naval doctrine.

The Estar Navy originally planned to have 24 warships, but operating such a large fleet proved too expensive even for the navy, which had a seemingly unlimited budget.

Almost all of Estaria's geopolitical goals are outside its own continent, so in the event of a possible war, the occupation army must cross the Nothvern Strait, which is almost as long as today's Russia, and while doing so, it must protect its sea lanes and fleet groups from the Royal Atrassian Navy, the 2nd most powerful navy in the world.

The Estar army was always prepared for a conventional front war with Atrassia, but the long strait, observation satellites and Atrassia intelligence made the fast but heavy shock tactics adopted by the Estar army impossible.

Although the Estar army has the largest fleet of military transport ships in the world, a study conducted in 2019 estimates that if the entire fleet is activated, at best, only two army groups will reach Atrassia months later.

This gives the Royal army two very valuable months to prepare for defense. This is enough time to stalemate a possible war. Since the Royal army is at least as strong as Estaria, the Estar army will at least have the numerical advantage in the short term and end the war quickly before the Atrassia rear divisions come to the front. Destroying Atrassia's forward divisions before reinforcements can arrive appears to be his best chance.

But if we take into account that not all army groups of the Estar army can come to battle (the 1st Continental Army, consisting of 4 army groups, is planned to remain on the mainland)

In all this chaos and in an environment where even a small pause could change the fate of the entire war, the Estar Navy has a huge part of the job.

The mission of the Estar Navy, apart from the defense of the mainland, is primarily to weaken or neutralize the Royal Navy in the event of an invasion, especially one targeting Atrassia, as well as to protect the Estar logistics fleets carrying thousands of soldiers and supplies.

Therefore, it was imperative for Estaria's own interests that the Estar Navy have a navy that could combat Atrassia.

To achieve this, the Royal Navy had to be fought both physically and psychologically.

Today's Atrassia Royal Navy has 4 Prince Pols class modernized warships. These ships are the battleship class that began to be built in 1943 during the Battle of Glonst (also known as the Continental Wars).

For this reason, the Estar-Navy always has large warships in its inventory. Battleships help Estaria project power on its own continent and have incredible intimidation power against hostile forces.

Operation History

Although all warships took part in the 2003 Arainq Invasion, perhaps the closest Estaria came to war with Atrassia after the Herenz Crisis was the 2005 Atro-Estarian Armored Crisis, famously known as the "Nothvern Showdown" in public and popular culture.

The crisis began when the Royal Atrassian Navy's RANS Majesty, a Prince Pols-class battleship, approached the Adamant-Class battleship ENS Dominant.

As a result of RANS Majesty not responding to the Dominant's radio calls, both ships advanced in the middle of the strait, locking their main guns at very close range (the distance between them could be measured in meters).

ENS Dominant requested permission to open fire from the 1st Nothvern Fleet Command to which it was affiliated many times.1. Nothvern Fleet Command forwarded the request to the 1st Estarian Grand Fleet High Command, but the request was rejected by Oberkapitan Karnl Dontz himself (equivalent to the rank of Grand Admiral).

In the documents that emerged, it was revealed that RANS Majesty also requested permission to fire, but this request was rejected by the King and the Lord of the Navy at the time.

While the incident was continuing in this way, ENS Confederation, a Constitution Class aircraft carrier of the 2nd Nothvern Fleet, and its battle group arrived in the area and began swimming next to ENS Dominant.

Minutes later, RANS Majesty withdrew as the lead ship of the Adamant-Class, ENS Adamant, and two Sovereignty-Class battleships, ENS Divine and ENS Destiny, arrived in the region.

CoN invited the two countries to the CoN Court of Humanity, but the matter was quietly closed after the Atrassian Fleet Lord and the ship's captain personally apologized to the crew of the ENS Dominant

This incident became world famous in 2013 with the documentary adapted from the book Estarian Navy: Biggest Gear in the Estarian Warmachine by the famous Atrassia writer Navaran Ast, and became popular with the movie "Nothvern Showdown" with the same name, released in 2019.
