1/2 Ton General Purpose Truck, Mk 1
The primary light utility vehicle employed by the Pilotmario Army. Designed as a "motorized mule", it proved very popular with units issued them. Easy to control, reliable, and able to operate on rough terrain, it proved very useful to the Pilotmario Army. Countless variants were produced. A total of 112,000 vehicles were made. Oddly enough, troops in the field referred to it as a jeep. The theory that it was named after its designation "General Purpose" is unlikely, though; other, larger trucks carried that designation, but were never referred to as a jeep. To operate, move VTOL forward to move forward, and use yaw controls to steer.
The machine was subject to a security breach, when Lt. Col. George Wheatcroft, a Pilotmario Army officer who became an Olympian spy, sent schematics for the prototype of this machine, as the Olympian Army had nothing to compare to. He was soon discovered as a spy, and was executed three days after the verdict. The Olympians made some tweaks and developed their own version of the jeep. Both vehicles are virtually identical, except for mudguard design and the front grille of the vehicle. Both Olympian and Pilotmarion soldiers found the parts largely interchangeable between the two vehicles, down to the screws used. 81,000 of the Olympian variant were built. Total Pilotmarian and Olympian production amounts to 193,000 machines.
