USSR MIG-23 K

Carrier-based aircraft version of the MiG-23

In the 1970s, the Soviet Navy began the development of the "1153 Project" aircraft carrier. In order to cooperate with the aircraft carrier development, Mikoyan Design Bureau targeted the development of MiG-23K carrier based fighter aircraft

At this time, MiG-23K is coded Izdeliye 32-31 in the Design Bureau.

The MiG-23K has a significantly lowered nose to improve the pilot's horizon during landing, completely eliminate the abdominal fins, and move the horizontal tail to a lower position

The development of MiG - 23K fighter was very fast, and even built a demonstration aircraft for the test of ski jump takeoff and blocking landing

    @asteroidbook345 You could but I believe it was removed on the 23k so again, this person is just following the planned design. This isn't about what could/could not have been added, the MiG-23k didn't have the ventral fin.

    @Dastin no I just don’t know why. Also you could still do a ventral fin and just put the hook slightly off center like it is on US fighters with that setup

    @asteroidbook345 why what? why a carrier based Mig-23? Ask the Soviet navy I guess.

    Why did the builder build a carrier based MiG-23? Are you attempting to gatekeep what people can build?

    @asteroidbook345 "Carrier-based aircraft version of the MiG-23"

    first link in the posters description. The MiG-23K is indeed the name of a proposed carrier capable MiG-23
